The educational programmes of the Institute are unique in their approach in assisting senior and middle level personnel of governments, parastatals, industry and academic institutions in planning for human capital. The programmes aim at providing conceptual and empirical grounding in planning and development of human capital and human resource development. NILERD's educational programmes provide a holistic perspective to problem solving and skills development, and also add value to persons and organisations.
The sponsors of Institute's teaching programmes are: India's Ministry of External Affairs under Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Special Commonwealth African Assistance Plan(SCAAP), Technical Cooperation Scheme (TCS) of the Colombo Plan of the Government of India.
Under the educational programme, the Institute is currently running two courses a one year Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Planning and Development and one six-month certificate course in Human Resource Planning and Development.
The Institute conducts training programmes at the international, national and state levels for a wide range of organisations. In recent years, the focus of training programmes has been on designing and developing programmes catering to the needs of specific client organisations.
The Institute conducts short-term training programmes for international participants with support from the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India in areas of Global Human Resource Management, Human Capabilities, Human Resource Planning and Development, Manpower Information System, Monitoring and Evaluation and Manpower Research. Besides these international training programmes the institute is also conducting short-term national training programmes in Monitoring & Evaluation for government officials in collaboration with the State Government.
Since NILERD has been conducting International Education and Training Programmes for a long time, the Institute has its distinguished alumni in more than 70 countries.
